APD2 - Assignment 2 - Conceptual Image

I chose the location in the class because the color accentuated my concept of "boringness',
my concept is that when I was in high school and cegep I was so bored and I really thought
school was a waste of time and I was always daydreaming and had problem just to stay awake. This picture was shot using a mix between flash and the room lighting to give it a really flat lighting again to accentuate that sometimes school is boring.

One day after noticing that is toilet was clogged Mr. Anderson took matter in is own hands,
armed with his plunger he started to unclog is toilet but he found all kind of weird and unusual stuff. After emptying the toilet, Mr.Anderson got sucked in by what it seems to be a magical force. However a couple of questions comes to mind, where the object there before? What got Mr.Anderson sucked in?

For this picture I chose a white location because I wanted the props to pop and it adds to the weirdness, since nobody was able to help me I had to create the feeling that somebody is present in the shot.

APD2 assignment3 street photography

I believe that sometimes there's a fine line between street and even photography and that some can be both at the same time, my photos where shot on St-Patrick's day but I didn't want to shoot the boring parade and stuff, I wanted to see what was happening on the sidelines.

When I saw I laughed really hard and took many shots, the one shot that did it for me was this ones because the owner of the dog is posing exactly like the dog and it's really a decisive moment and it's funny and priceless. This was shot with my mark II, 50mm 1,4 lens at f1,8 iso 100 at 1/250

A guy in a speedo downtown is not something you see everyday but it's funny, when I was walking on the side street and I saw him coming I prepared myself, I took 2 shots, one was blurry and crappy and this one was really timed perfectly pointing me looking at me and saying "hey man this is not in my contract". Shot again with a markII, 50mm, f1,8 iso 100 and at 1/1000sec to freeze the subject.

Being a goofball myself I really like humour and when I saw pigman I just had to shoot him because that something I would do myself. I really like the lighting contrast on this one and the way that pigman is lighted, just makes him pop. If you walk around a lot you can spot all kind of weird and funny stuff like this. This was shot with a markII, 50mm f1,6 iso 100 at 1/5000.

I spotted that guy in the middle of the crowd, he seemed to be happy and quite relax. Just having a nice nap after a couple of brewskies. I like the contrast of him sitting and everybody else just standing there and the negative space around him. Was shot with markII, 50mm, f5 iso100 at 1/100.

ALP1 architecture & interior

This is a picture of westmount square, architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. This was shot with a medium format 55mm lens at f14 at 100 iso and the lines where corrected with a lens correcting filter to have the vertical lines parallel to the edge of the frame. I gave it also a 1960's treatment to replicate a photo from the era when the building was built.

This is a picture of Mies van der Rohe’s gas station on Nun’s Island outside of Montreal was part of a grand vision for a much larger development. Originally built in 1966, the gas station was designed to be a prototypical gas station and included space for car service, sales and gas pumping. At this point, the city decided to make it an activity center for youths and seniors and FABG was tasked with the renovation and conversion. This was shot with a 5D markII with a 50mm lens, f13 iso 100 for 1 second. This picture is a composite and I use the light inside and the light from outside and matched everything with a color meter.

This is a picture of my Lobby, located at Nuns’ Island entrance, the Sax complex includes 3 buildings offering a unique contemporary living space environment. Designed by the architect Dan Hanganu, who also designed le theatre du nouveau monde, cirque du soleil, HEC, pavillon du design UQAM, and many more. The name of the complex is SAX and it's all inspired by jazz, this is why there's a big mural in the lobby of a jazz player. This was shot with a markII with again a 50mm because I didn't wanted a realistic what we see feeling. Was shot at f18 iso 100.

Well this is a picture of school, it looks like bad 70's design a bit kitsch, it looks like it just needs a guy dress in a bad baby blue suit. I desaturated the picture to feel even more that sad feel and this is also a composite to show the trees outside the windows. I like the emptiness and sadness of the picture, it had it's day but now all the chairs are empty and nobody care anymore. This was shot with a medium format 55mm lens at f13 iso 100 for 1sec.
